For nearly 40 years, my family and I have proudly tended to BC orchards.
My wife and I chose the Okanagan to put down roots because we dreamed of opportunities for
our kids, and we saw others who shared our passion for farming the land and feeding
Canadians.
Over that time, we have worked through labour shortages, recessions and downturns, and
more recently through a pandemic and the effects of extreme weather. Today our fellow
growers are grappling with the realities of the closure of the BC Tree Fruits Cooperative.
I understand the immense challenges our industry faces today. As elected officials and others
meet to find solutions, my family and the entire Sandher Fruit Packers team are committed to
supporting our fellow growers and farmers. That’s why we’ve been working hard with the
various agencies to ensure we can pack, store, and ship fruit for our growers and other
customers.
Our industry and region have faced and overcome adversities in the past with collective hard
effort. By working together, we can sustain our local fruit industry through this difficult period,
keep our teams employed and continue to deliver the best of our region to the world.
